Transverse Myelitis Injury Claim

Gold Law Firm, LLC., Vaccine Injury Law Firm Settles Transverse Myelitis Injury Claim

National Vaccine Injury Law Firm Settles Claim in Vaccine Court alleging MMR Shot triggered Transverse Myelitis. Many are not aware of Compensation Program and the short, strict deadlines that must be met in order to qualify.

WELLESLEY, Mass.  March 14, 2017  PRLog — Gold law Firm, LLC, the National Vaccine Injury Law Firm, recently obtained a large settlement for a 42-year old New York woman who had a severe reaction to the MMR vaccine resulting in Transverse Myelitis. The case, filed in the United States Court of Federal Claims (sometimes referred to as the “Vaccine Court”) in Washington, D.C., sought recovery under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

“This case is a striking example of the injuries and adverse reactions that can occur as a result of vaccinations,” says Howard Gold, a leading Vaccine Injury attorney.

The MMR Shot is designed to protect young and old alike from contracting measles, mumps, and rubella  which can have devastating effects on the individual, and the population at large, if many go without vaccination.

In this most recent case, 15vv-870 ####### v. SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, the Petitioner, who at the time was 38-years old, received the MMR shot and shortly thereafter began to experience numbness in her torso, saddle and extremities, and also suffered dizzyness and imbalance.  After diagnostic studies, she was  diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, a neurological disorder caused by inflammation across both sides of one level, or segment, of the spinal cord. Over a 13-month period she received treatment by oral and IV steroids.  She has made a partial recovery, and to this do suffers greatly from the affects of her vaccine injury from the MMR shot.

Transverse Myelitis and other reactions are continually reported to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) as occurring after the MMR shot. See, http://www.vaers.hhs.gov. “I strongly believe that children and adults alike should be receiving all of their mandatory vaccinations. However in the case of optional vaccines, it’s important to talk to your health care practitioner about the risks,” states Gold, who has been handling Vaccine cases for 20 years.

Gold is a strong proponent of receiving all of the doctor-recommended shots.  Gold also says that while there is nothing inherently wrong with the MMR shot each person is different and reacts differently to each vaccination. That is why it’s essential that the public be aware of a Program intended to compensate them if they do, in fact, have a reaction.

Petitioners have three (3) years from the onset of the injury (or two years from date of death) to file a claim. Gold states that the “Program is not used as much as it could be because the American public is just not aware of it. I receive many calls each week from individuals who cannot obtain compensation because the deadline has passed. They just found out about it too late. We all need to do a better job in getting the word out to the public that the Program exists.”
